OK, so maybe it IS possible. Today I jogged (very slowly, mind you) 2 miles without stopping. I'm not sure I've ever done that; not once in my life. I did it today. Maybe the idea of running a 5K isn't so far fetched. It's a month from today. I still have a month to train. I went from running 60 seconds at a time to being able to run 2 miles! I can add in one more mile in the next month, right? Am I really going to be able to do this?! I think I am!!
I'm still not a runner. I'm SLOW and I look like a beginner runner. All of my kids are faster than I am by quite a bit. But I'm doing it.
Oh, and speaking of my kids, they are doing a fantastic job! They're not runners either. I remember during Tigerthon last year (a fundraiser where the kids get people to pledge money based on how many laps they run) watching Becca flit from one group of friends to another, doing far more talking than anything else and Tyler jogging for a few seconds before half walking/half skipping and stopping every lap for more water. Becca fell down twice today and still beat us all. Tyler didn't stop once the entire time. He sipped his water while jogging and kept the same steady pace the entire time. Rachel started to feel a bit nauseous towards the end and walked part of her last lap, but finished strong and fast at the end. Of course they all beat me. I am amazed and impressed by these kids.
One of the best parts about this has been watching my kids. The second time Becca fell, Tyler helped her up, gave her some of his water, and encouraged her to go on. They cheer each other on. They give each other high 5s. There are never any bad feelings because someone "beat" them, or any bragging if they're faster. It's been nothing but positive and cheering all around. They may groan and drag their feet when it's time to get ready for training, but once we're out there, they have been phenomenal cheerleaders for one another.
I guess we're really doing this. Stonebridge 5K on Labor Day or bust! Guess it's time to get us registered. :)

AWESOME!!!
I know you can do this! I'm so proud of you! I still think of myself as a slow runner- I will never win a medal, but every day you train you get stronger and you are amazing!
I love hearing how great your kids are doing too- when do our families get to run together!?!
You guys are great! You can do this.....
